Sora’s Middle School Curriculum
Sora breaks the mold of traditional education. Students meet in live, synchronous classes sessions where they dive into real-world topics that interest them. These classes blend disciplines and focus on hands-on, project-based learning instead of tests. Our approach develops curious, independent thinkers who are prepared for high school and beyond.

✍️ Independent Studies
Independent Studies or ISEs are a unique Sora offering, giving students the opportunity to explore topics of interest with the guidance and support of our teachers.
💬 World Language (Optional)
Students have the option to enroll in multiple world language options through our partners, earning them high school-level credit.
⚽️ Physical Education
At Sora, we believe promoting a healthy lifestyle and holistic well-being is as important as academic success. As part of our curriculum, students are required to complete 1 credit in Physical Education (PE). Given Sora's online format, this credit is completed at home, allowing students to engage in physical activities that best fit their interests and routines.
A look at Sora’s flexible schedule
2 schedule options
Sora has 3 hours and 20 minutes of live classes and office hours on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Your family can choose from two flexible time blocks to fit your schedule (or mix and match for even more flexibility).
Weekly community day
Wednesdays are our community-building day. Instead of classes, it is filled with club meetups, all-school meetings, and other fun activities. It’s also a great time to catch up on projects or connect with your teachers 1:1.
Daily time with advisor
Similar to a home room, students at Sora get grouped into Houses that meet throughout the school year. These houses meet daily with their faculty advisor to check in on academic progress and build valuable friendships.
Hear from Sora families
"The teachers are like friends... I feel like they’re preparing me by teaching me things I’ll actually use."
