### Expedition Description:

If rocks could talk, oh the stories they would tell! Have you ever looked out your bedroom window and wondered what the world looked like thousands, millions, or even billions of years ago? In this expedition, you will “dig in” to the rocks where you live to uncover that story. These rocks and the minerals and atoms that make them up hold clues to the environments of the past. You will learn how these rocks formed, what they are made of (down to the subatomic particles!), and how we can use radioactive elements to figure out how old they really are.

### Project Creation and Choices:

Create a virtual museum exhibit to inform your community about the geologic history of where you live. You may want to partner with a local natural history museum to expand the reach of your project! Some ideas for final products include:

- Website
- Physical museum display (rocks + posters explaining each)
- Series of social media videos/posts (TikTok, Instagram, etc.)
- Local geology tour documentary video
- Local geology guidebook
- Creative Story
- Other
