The Fog

The fog is thick, it wraps me tight, A ghostly veil that swallows light. I stumbled through twisted trees, Each step a fight, each breath a plea.

Seven years I’ve known Eliana's smile, My dearest friend, my heart's own dial. But two months past, she slipped away, Vanished, gone without a say.
They say she left, packed up, and fled, That she moved on, no tears to shed. But deep inside, I know the truth— Eliana would never escape her youth.
So now I tread this cursed wood, A place where few dare go for good. They whisper, "Haunted. Strange things roam." But I don’t care, I can’t go home.
Through fog that presses, cold and deep, Through roots that twist, through shadows creep, I push ahead, my heart a drum— I cannot stop, I must succumb.
I need to find her, Can’t you see? Eliana holds the key to me. The things I’ve buried, deep and dark, The truths that leave their cruelest mark.
She knows what happened long ago, The lies I told, the seeds I sowed. The girl I hurt, the one I left, Eliana knows the truth I’ve kept.
The whispers come—first soft, then loud, A haunting sound, a voice that crowds. They call my name, they call my doom, And in the fog, I see their bloom.

A snap of branch—a footstep near, I spin, but no one’s there, just fear. The voices swell, a ghostly choir, A storm of whispers, cold as fire.
I trip, I fall—my heart a shout, The forest breathes, it swallows out. The footsteps circle, close, surround, I feel them, hear them on the ground.
Then sudden pain—sharp, biting, raw, I turn to face what fate has saw. And there she stands—Eliana’s face, But twisted now, with no more grace.
"Eliana...?" I gasp in vain, But only madness speaks my name. A twisted grin, a voice not hers, "Don’t you remember? It’s all a blur."
A flash of memories, sharp and clear, Of things I’ve done, of things I fear. The girl I hurt, the one I scarred, Her voice was silent, but still marred.
I try to speak, to beg, to plead, But words are lost, I can’t succeed. And then the blade—cold as the night, A flash of red, the final bite.
I choke, I gasp, I cannot scream, Her hollow eyes, they steal my dream. And as the dark consumes the sky, I know—this time, I’ll never lie.
